Therapist Friendly Massage - Click Here

This one- day course has been designed to prevent and reduce cumulative injury to the therapist which often leads to the therapist either ceasing practice completely or reducing the number of treatments able to be given. It has been approved by the Complementary Therapists Association (CThA) with 5 Continuing Professional Development [CPD] points being awarded to qualified therapists.

herapist Friendly Massage

The course format is as follows;

  • This is a full body couch therapy where students learn advanced massage techniques such as acupressure, deep tissue, the use of the fists, elbows and forearms and manipulation of the client’s upper back. These techniques enhance treatments and protect the therapist’s fingers and thumbs, hands, arms, back and shoulders. The benefits of warming up muscles and good posture and stretching to both the client and therapist are emphasised.
  • By reducing the emphasis on the use of the therapist’s hands, fingers and thumbs when combined with the greater emphasis of correct use of bodyweight means there should be less risk of chronic conditions such as RSI.
  • Students work on a clothed partner; no oil or cream is used and the couch is at normal working height. The techniques learnt can be applied to all couch massage and in part to seated massage.
  • All the different massage sequences are demonstrated in turn by the tutor and they are then practised by the students in paired practice.
  • A course workbook is issued to students and a certificate of attendance is issued after the course.
